Twin Palms

Twin Palms is a very popular Palm Springs, CA neighborhood, especially for enthusiasts of mid-century architecture. This South Palm Springs neighborhood offers a selection of Mid-Century Modern homes as well as modern homes. Many of the Mid-Century Modern homes built in the late 1950s and 1960s have undergone restoration to take them back to their original grandeur but now include modern conveniences and technologies. Some of the newer, modern homes were built as recently as the early 2000s.

The Twin Palms neighborhood features a nice selection of the popular Alexander homes (built by George and Robert Alexander starting in 1957) designed by renowned architects Palmer & Krisel in the Mid-Century Modern style that is one of the most sought-after styles in the Southern California real estate market. The rectangular designs offer plenty of open space and several styles of roofs including soaring butterfly roofs, folded plate roofs, and low-gabled roofs.

Frank Sinatra’s original desert estate was located in the Twin Palms area. Designed by E. Stewart Williams in 1947 for Mr. Sinatra and his first wife, Nancy Barbato, the Sinatra Twin Palms Estate is a spectacular example of Mid-Century Modern architecture in the heart of Palm Springs. This legendary residence was host to some of Palm Springs’ most glamorous parties with Hollywood’s brightest stars of the day. The estate was named after the twin palm trees, located poolside; at the time they were the tallest trees in the Coachella Valley. Today, the residence has been completely restored with vintage designer furnishings and includes the original sound and recording system that was actually used by Frank Sinatra to cut records at his home. The Sinatra Twin Palms Estate is now available for rent for a variety of private and commercial functions.

The Twin Palms neighborhood, conveniently located just south of East Palm Canyon Drive, is just a short walk or drive to dining, shopping, and many Palm Springs attractions.
