Ruth Hardy Park

The Ruth Hardy Park neighborhood, now referred to as Movie Colony East, is one of the most sought-after areas to live in the Palm Springs area, primarily because of its proximity to downtown Palm Springs, including famous Palm Canyon Drive. The Ruth Hardy Park neighborhood was recently renamed Movie Colony East to celebrate the community’s roots in the entertainment industry.

Today, the community encompasses more than 700 homes. The northern portion of the area was the site of the El Mirador Hotel golf course in the 1930s and is now homes originally designed as second homes and vacation hideouts for celebrities. Residents included Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Steve Lawrence, and Eydie Gorme, Bing Crosby, Carmen Miranda, Keely Smith, and Hedy Lamarr.

Homes in the former Ruth Hardy Park neighborhood were built from the late 1930s to the late 2000s and include a wide variety and eclectic mix of homes. Homes at Ruth Hardy Park range from as small 720 sq. ft. to as large as 5,350 sq. ft.
