El Mirador

El Mirador is a popular residential neighborhood in Palm Springs, CA. El Mirador’s name evolved from its original name, the “Bel Desierto Neighborhood”, coined by P.T. Stevens who built the El Mirador Hotel at the corner of North Indian Canyon Drive and Tachevah Drive, now the site of the Desert Regional Medical Center. The Bel Desierto Neighborhood Association ultimately changed the neighborhood’s name to El Mirador in recognition of the former El Mirador Hotel’s Bell Tower. El Mirador translated from Spanish means a “scenic viewpoint” or “watchtower”.

The El Mirador neighborhood today is an eclectic mix of approximately 160 homes from larger estate properties to vintage Palm Springs bungalows representing most architectural styles. The El Mirador neighborhood is sought-out by many home buyers because of its central location within the city of Palm Springs.
